In the fall of 2018, Jason enrolled in a journalism course for non-majors focusing on broadcast reporting and news writing. This was his first glimpse into the world of journalism and served as the impetus for his interest in the field. Through the course, he developed a broad-based knowledge of broadcast news writing and reporting. He was then able to take these skills and apply them firsthand. In the fall of 2019, Jason began working as a multimedia journalist for the nightly news program, Annenberg TV News. In this role, he created weekly news packages centered around on-campus events, stories based in the Los Angeles area, and national topics applicable to the student body. He conducted on-field reporting, interviews, and shot b-roll for day-of-air TV stories. He became very familiar with newsroom software, as he edited videos in Adobe Premiere Pro, wrote copy in Avid iNEWS, recorded voiceovers in Adobe Audition, and created on-air graphics in Adobe Photoshop. Throughout his time at ATVN, Jason collaborated with faculty, producers, editors, and writers to create multi-platform coverage for Annenberg Media's various social channels.
