In June 2022, Jason began working as a producer for Brut. America, a global digital news publisher. As a social-first video organization, Jason primarily created short-form video content with a focus on entertainment and culture topics.
On a daily basis, Jason was responsible for independently researching, pitching, scripting, voicing, editing, and publishing minute-long vertical news videos for TikTok (2.2M followers), Instagram (400K followers), Facebook (4M followers), Snapchat (800K subscribers), and YouTube (280K subscribers). Whether that be in the form of a voiceover or on-camera video, Jason produced concise, informative, and engaging content that regularly resonated with Brut. America’s Gen-Z and Millennial audience.
Jason was able to take his passion for art, culture, and entertainment and translate it into various forms of successful content for Brut. America. In 2022, he developed and began hosting “We Need To Talk,” a recurring short-form series that takes a meaningful deep-dive into a timely pop-culture news story. The series included over 70 episodes and amassed over 15 million collective views on TikTok.
When he was not lending his voice or stepping in front of the camera for a short form video, Jason could be found sitting down to interview some of the biggest names in music, film, television, art, and internet culture. Through this, he created two recurring long-form series’, “Brut. Backtrack,” which has a musician take a retrospective look at some of their biggest hits, and “Going Viral,” which profiles TikTok creators who have experienced virality and how their lives have changed.
Outside of the newsroom, Jason was the red-carpet correspondent at numerous movie premieres for Brut. America, notably at the 2022 and 2023 Tribeca Festivals. He also attended and covered events such as Art Basel Miami Beach and the Governor’s Ball Music Festival. Earlier this year, he led social media coverage of the Grammy Awards, Academy Awards, SAG Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and Met Gala.
During his time at Brut. America, Jason produced over 500 short-form videos, which collectively, on TikTok alone, garnered over 150 million views. As a result, the company’s account grew from 1.3 million to 2.2 million followers, subsequently ranking as the 3rd most followed social native news publisher on TikTok. Within a short amount of time, he was offered a diverse view of the world of digital media and confirmed that he has a valued place within it.
