HOUSE OF X: The Film is a 2022 documentary short created by Jason Cerin for the Columbia Journalism School. At CJS, Jason was enrolled in the Visual Craft track, which is for a select group of master's students who are committed to refining skills in cinematic storytelling and photojournalism. As part of his curriculum, he had to independently produce an artful, six-minute-long narrative film.
When moving to New York City, Jason became captivated by its vibrant and eclectic nightlife scene. One space that was particularly inspiring to him is House of Yes, a nightclub and creative event space located in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Each week, HOY hosts a variety of events, ranging from cabaret theatre performances and circus variety shows to dance parties and burlesque nights.
Throughout its 15-year tenure, House of Yes has built a reputation for creating eccentric, grandiose, and one-of-a-kind nightlife experiences for its community. Now, HOY has decided to introduce all of its delicious debaucheries to a new neighborhood with their latest endeavor, House of X.
House of X is Manhattan's newest nightclub created by House of Yes. Located at the PUBLIC Hotel in the Lower East Side, HOX is a 400-person dance club and lounge that blends world-class music and live performance art. Opening its doors in November of 2021, Jason captured numerous sold-out evenings filled with burlesque acts, aerial artists, gogo dancers, circus performers, and more. In "HOUSE OF X: The Film," we take an exclusive look inside New York City's newest nightlife sanctuary.
