The Rundown is an award-winning, weekly news program formatted for Instagram's long-form video platform, IGTV, and presented by Annenberg Media. In January of 2020, Jason was hired as the video producer of The Rundown. In this role, he worked in Annenberg Media's industry-grade, on-camera studio to record the show each week. During this time, he was responsible for independently directing, filming, editing, and posting the show. As a result, he became very comfortable with control room, camera, sound, and lighting operations. Through this, he also developed strong skills across the Adobe Suite relating to videography.
In March of 2020, the Annenberg Media newsroom went remote in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, The Rundown had to switch to virtual production, something the show had never done before. Nonetheless, Jason assisted the show's anchors in making a seamless transition, maintaining their weekly posting schedule, and, in fact, the show received its highest engagement rates to date during this time. Production of The Rundown remained virtual until April of 2021 when Annenberg Media established an on-campus, outdoor filming tent, which allowed for the show to be filmed in a hybrid format.

The last virtual episode of the Fall 2020 season, posted on Annenberg Media's Instagram on November 16, 2020.

The final hybrid episode of the Spring 2021 season, posted on Annenberg Media's Instagram on April 29, 2021.

In total, Jason produced over 30 episodes of The Rundown across three seasons of the show. He hired and worked directly with eight, on-camera anchors via in-person, hybrid, and virtual formats. He managed a team of editors, production assistants, and scriptwriters. During his 1 1/2 year tenure, he refined the show’s brand identity through innovative editing and scriptwriting techniques. As a result, the show became a premier opportunity for students to gain experience, both in front and behind the camera. Today, it remains one of Annenberg Media's most popular on-camera shows. To watch all episodes of The Rundown, click here.
